The USA, with all its pristine wilderness and vast natural landscapes still untouched by man, has a strong history of environmental protection and conservation. Why then, as the globe is facing its greatest challenge, is the nation so hesitant in admitting global climate change is actually occurring and shutting its eyes to the consequences?
The USA will serve as a case study as we try to answer this question and examine global climate change through the four basic natural elements: fire, water, earth and air. We will actively discuss how each of these systems is changing, and how these changes will affect future generations. Come join us for an informative and lively presentation where we will argue and debate various points from both an American
and German perspective.
„I am half German half American, was born in Bad Wildungen, Deutschland... but at the age of 9 my parents moved to Albany, New York, which is where I grew up.
I studied at the State University of New York College at Geneseo. My major was International Relations focus being Third World Development and Geography. I plan on doing my masters here at the University of Tuebingen in Global Issues come October.
Other than teaching at the d.a.i. I also work as an Advisor for the Exchange Student Orientation program at the beginning of every semester. My hobbies are drinking a nice cappuccino in Piccolo, going for long runs, reading just about everything, playing beach volleyball on the weekends... and painting.“
